Ysgol Glan Aber
Ysgol Glan Aber is an inclusive, small mixed English Medium Community Primary school of 141 pupils serving the western end of the village of Bagillt, close to the Dee Estuary. The school dates back to 1846 and was rebuilt in 1984 and provides a modern, pleasant working environment for its pupils and staff. The school was further remodelled in 2010 to provide better accommodation for the school’s increasing pupil intake. Catering for the full‐time education of both boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 11 years, it also provides part‐time Nursery Education for those children who have attained their fourth birthday before September 1st i.e. the beginning of the new school year. In addition, children who have attained the age of three before either the 1st of January or April can be admitted into our ‘Rising Threes” Class at the beginning of that term under the Early Entitlement scheme. The medium of instruction is English, but all pupils are taught Welsh as a second language, in accordance with Flintshire County Council's Second Language Policy. All that we do at Ysgol Glan Aber reflects our core values of respect, inclusion, care, achievement and wellbeing. We believe in actively encouraging all our pupils to work hard in order that they may achieve their fullest potential during their time here, and develop as dependable, responsible and disciplined individuals. The children within our school are very happy within their learning environment and we pride ourselves on our ‘home from home’ atmosphere, believing strongly that happy children learn much more readily.
